Ella the Pit {Rescued}

Wednesday, November 26, 2014

Today's blog post is written by Ella. It occurred to me that while I have had Ella in pictures, and mentioned her on Twitter, I've never done a formal introduction. Let me know if you have any questions for either of us!

You can follow Ella on Instagram here!

Hi I'm Ella! I'm 3 years old, my birthday is September 6, 2011. Currently I weigh about 55 lbs! I'm short and stocky though, you would never guess that I weigh that much in person. Some people call me a "muscle" because I look like I'm all muscle! Originally I was found at BARCS in Baltimore, I had puppies at one point, and it's most likely I was something called a "breed and dump". My mommy wishes she had met my puppies to see if they were as cute as me!
While at my stay at BARCS I caught the attention of Bella's Bully Buddies and a very nice lady named Lori came to my rescue. She loved me and kept me nice and warm (and snuggled) until I met my forever mom about 1 year and 1 month ago. Mom and I are very grateful for all of her love and support (and we still stay in contact)!

More about me:
I love to eat: Raw Hides! We make sure they have no knots and are all US made!
I love to play: with other dogs! My favorite dog is my cousin Sadie, but I've never met a dog I didn't like.
My favorite place to go: in the car! Anywhere. And to Granny's house.
My least favorite place to go: the dog park. I don't like being surrounded by that many dogs and mommy says dog parks can be dangerous because of irresponsible owners.
Around kids I'm: awesome! A little hyper at first but once I calm down I love the snuggles I get, especially from my human nephew Gavin.
I'm great at: modeling for pictures! My granny says I should be a doggie model. Only if there are MANY treats involved!
Eventually I want to: be a foster brother to another doggie! My mom says once we move that it might happen!
My goal is to: show you that pit bulls are good loving, loyal pets!

Love to all,

xo Ella

Reviving Cargo Pants

Tuesday, November 25, 2014

Cargo pants, something I really thought I would never wear again has come back around in fashion {like it always does}. I thrifted mine and I love them! I believe they are originally from Kohls, at least that's what the brand sounds like on the tag. Mine were a crisp $10. I paired mine with a pretty blouse (also thrifted) and my favorite necklace from Side Dish! I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on more of their jewelry at their next event.

Pants: Thrifted, Shoes: old

Necklace: Side Dish

Bag: Old Navy (here) Ring: H & M
Bracelets: Alex and Ani

What do you think of cargo pants? Did they come back around? Or should they not be worn?

I personally think they are cute!

Paw Pack Review {November}

Monday, November 24, 2014

Ok I did my Birchbox review so now it's time for my Paw Pack Review!

Ella loved everything in her Paw Pack and although she hasn't yet played with her new treat toy, I know once she destroys it gets to, she will love it too.

First some information about the good that Paw Pack does taken directly from their website:
"10% of PawPack proceeds will go directly to the care of rescue animals. We also will be donating PawPacks directly to rescues for new adoptions to have as a welcome home gift."

With that said, they ask anyone with rescues in mind to send them an email at I will be sending them Bella's Bully Buddies' information shortly.

Reasons why I liked Paw Pack from the Get-go:
  1. They allow you to do a month to month box (you don't have to pay a year in advance)
  2. Everything from Paw Pack is Eco-friendly, organic and all-natural (good for Ella)
  3. You receive full sized items as well as samples
  4. All of their items are GRAIN-FREE

So now that you know all about Paw Pack, let me tell you what was in her box for November!

Wellness Foods is some good stuff let me tell you! They provided a sample of their food in the Core "Original Formula" as well as some protein bars in flavor Turkey and Duck with Kale. I was wondering if she was going to like something that sounded so nutritious but Ella ate them faster than I could say the word "treat" (both the food AND the protein bars).

Smart Alex Treats in Walnut-Flaxseed - she ate these just as fast and bonus, they smelled delicious! I was about to try one myself.

Lastly, she received a treat toy from Cycle Dog in the shape of a mini dino! So cute! I am withholding giving this to her because I know she is going to destroy it and love it all at the same time.

We loved this month's Paw Pack and can't wait to get it next month!

Dressing up Track Pants

Friday, November 21, 2014

One new fall fashion that I'm currently obsessed with is track pants! I figured out how to dress them up and really make them work, I mean you'd never guess they are really sweat pants would you?? I have yet to wear them to work, I'm just not sure if that line should really be crossed. What do you all think?

I paired mine with a blazer that I already owned, some heels and a new French T from J. Crew's 30% off sale. I think I got the shirt for around $13 (orig. $39.50). A real steal!

Blazer: Old, French T: J Crew, Track Pants: H & M, Shoes: Aldo
Necklace: Old, Purse: Thrifted, the Shabby Button

Have you tried track pants yet? What are your thoughts?

Peter Pan Collars and Leather Skirts

70's Throwback Style

Tuesday, November 11, 2014

I love this dress, it is just the perfect touch of 70's flair coupled with the brown belt and boots. The 70's is definitely my favorite decade. Ella's dress was actually supposed to be a lady bug costume that I got for $5 (missing the antennae) at Spoiled Rotten K9 in White Marsh. Luckily it also works as an adorable doggie dress!

My dress: Francescas (old) similar here, Belt: Goodwill (thrifted), Boots: Aldo similar here on sale

Boulevard of Chic!

Monday, November 10, 2014

What do you get when you put fashion, mobile vehicles, drinks, and goodies together in one location?
Boulevard of Chic!
What a fun time I had this weekend as a Blvd of Chic VIP in Pierce's Park visiting all of the mobile fashion trucks and drinking delicious Apple Cider Tea.

I did not walk away empty handed! I didn't even start empty handed. Pictured below are the goodies that I was given as soon as I arrived (including earrings from Side Dish Mobile Boutique). They gave us coupons that could even be used same day!

I was even lucky enough to meet Nneka, owner of Celebrities Boutique. She was so sweet and helpful!
During this time, I fell in love with a beautiful pink purse and earrings that I just had to have, also pictured below.

Another of my favorite trucks (of course I'm partial to Baltimore trucks!) was Charm City Mobile Boutique. I met Alyssa Coster the owner, also super sweet and bought a beautiful red bag (pictured below)!

My absolute FAVORITE accessories boutique was Side Dish. I now know where I will be purchasing all of my accessories. The prices were amazing and the jewelry was so trendy! I had to have this beautiful necklace pictured below for $15.

Left:  from Celebrities Boutique, Right: from Charm City Mobile boutique
Middle: from Side Dish

The cutest truck at the festival had to be the Pink Armoire! A pink schoolbus! It was just so adorable and I wanted to buy everything in it.

The last (but certainly not least) trucks that I LOVED were Go Gorgeous (owner Laura Green was super sweet). Also, Hobo the Original had gorgeous bags and I really enjoyed chatting with owner Lindley Hamilton. Lastly, one of my other favorites, Grass Roots, was trendy boho type clothing and loved everything in their truck as well. I will be visiting them online for some of their treasures soon.

As the day went on my boyfriend and I (yes, I drug him along to the event) got thirsty so we stopped by Sweet Tea and Cornbread for an Apple Cider Tea. It was amazing! Please check them out if you ever see them in town.

I hope if you were in the Baltimore area you were able to check out some of these trucks. I had a great time and I highly recommend any of my fashionable friends to go next year! Until then, check out some of the trucks in the links that I provided. Some of them you can shop on line, the others you will have to check and see when they will be around!

If you went, let me know what you bought. Can't wait to feature some of my outfits on the blog with my new bags and accessories.

Crock Pot Irish Cream Coffee {Thirsty Thursday}

Thursday, November 6, 2014

Ever since I discovered my crock pot at home (thanks Mom!), I have been dying to try a ton of crock pot recipes! I mean what's better than throwing a bunch of ingredients into the pot and having a whole delish meal ready in a few hours? Or leave it while you are at work, and come home to an amazing dinner (and the house smelling delightful). I love food, but the only thing I love more than food (other than my boyfriend, family and friends of course) is coffee. Give me it hot, give me it cold, give me a frapp, or a capp (just don't give it to me decaf), I don't care! Imagine my glee when I found both a crock pot recipe and a coffee recipe....add in a little Bailey's and well, you just made my day! I found this recipe on, check out some of their other recipes!

  • 3 Cups Strong Brewed Coffee, Black
  • 1/2 Cup Baileys Irish Cream
  • 1/3 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream (Not Whipped Cream)
  • 1 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • Sugar, If Desired
  • Whipped Cream
  • Chocolate Shavings or Sprinkles, If Desired

  1. Add coffee and Baileys to crock-pot.
  2. Stir.
  3. Add your whipping cream and if you want it to be sweeter, your sugar.
  4. Add the cocoa powder, stirring to blend.
  5. Cook on low for 3 hours or high for 90 minutes.
  6. Serve with whipped cream and chocolate garnish (if desired).

October {Birchbox} Review

Wednesday, November 5, 2014

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was when my Birchbox showed up so fast for October (just made it as it's now November)! Obviously my  November review for Birchbox will be coming up soon as well. (Also keep an eye out for my Ipsy review and Paw Pack for Ella.) I stopped doing Birchbox two years ago because I didn't like their samples and for some reason my box was always late. However, I've been hearing good things again so I thought I would give them one more chance!

Here's a picture of the box and all of the products.

1. BeeKind Body Lotion - it's made with honey and organic chamomile (good), but I have to be honest it smells like pine-sol. So, if you are going for a sweet smelling fragrance this is probably not your best bet. I will say I love that it is not greasy. If there's one thing that will keep me from buying a product it's greasiness. It was also kind on my rough dry hands and didn't sting or burn. I give this one a B+.
(Full size $15) Buy it here.

2. Dr Brandt Pores No More Mask- I have to say I really liked this product, it has a nice cooling feeling when you apply it to your skin. I applied the product to my chin because that's where I get the most blackouts. It seems to bring the blackouts to the surface, not necessarily get rid of them, but that does just as well! Once you use this you can then clean your face and absolve them from your skin. I give it an A.  (Full size $45) Buy it here.

3. Harvey Prince Petaly Noir Perfume- I am a tough critic when it comes to perfumes especially those of a floral nature. This one I really liked, it wasn't too overwhelming and it adds a nice mild scent to your skin. I give it an A and I will probably be investing in this one! (Full size $55) Buy it here.

4. Lord & Berry Glitter Eye Pencil - An eye pencil in black that has glitter and glides on smoothly on my skin? Check and check! Yes I love this eyeliner. You don't need to know much more than there's glitter. Done. Go get it. I give this one an A+ and will definitely be investing. (Full size $18) Buy it here.

5. ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick in Kitty- I can't speak for it being party proof but it did withstand me taking multiple sips of drinks, kissing my boyfriend, and also kissing Ella. I'm sure it could withstand a party. I do love the color as well. The only reason I probably wouldn't invest right now is because I have so many neutral lipsticks, I'm trying to be more daring with my colors! But overall I give it an A. (Full size $24) Buy it here

That's my review! I was very happy with this month's box and I can't wait to tell you all about Novembers'!

Denim on Denim

Sunday, November 2, 2014

I was never into the denim on denim before, probably because my dad used to wear it constantly when he worked out in our old barn. It reminds me of tractors and grease, and I always equated it with such.
That aside, I've been seeing more and more of it lately and I have to say it's been growing on me. Pairing it with a nice necklace and some heels helped of course! I think that the denim on denim look is OK if paired correctly. Don't be too matchy with your denim, ya heard!

Heels: Steve Madden (old) similar here, Shirt: Old Navy, Jeans: Kohls
necklace: Ralph Lauren (old) similar here

I also added one of my favorite Banana Republic bracelets (gifted)

What do you think of denim on denim?
Yes OR no?
